Lijiang, a city in the northwest part of China's Yunnan province, is home to the Naxi and several other ethnic minority groups. Dating to the late Song dynasty, its old town encompasses cobblestone streets, canals and Central Market Square and its shops and restaurants. Black Dragon Pool has famed views of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain range, fronted by the Moon Embracing Pavilion.
A sleepy village in a remote breathtaking location predominantly inhabited by a colorful mix of Hui Muslims and Amdo Tibetans. It is said that the provincial borderline runs through the middle of town with Sertri Gompa in Gansu and Kirti Gompa located in Sichuan. The power struggles between the two Gompa may have been the reason for the border location. Both temples have distinct styles making both well worth the visit alone. The surrounding mountains give off a very much alpine flair reminiscent of rural Austria or Bavaria and perfect for hiking and horsetrekking.
Lvdongshan is a small Miao village close to Jishou city in Hunan province. It is very close from more know places like Fenghuang, Dehang etc. Lvdongshan and its surroundings is a place untouched by tourism.
Mount Hua, or Hua Shan, or Xiyue, is a mountain located near the city of Huayin in Shaanxi province, about 120 kilometres east of Xi'an. It is one of China's Five Great Mountains, and has a long history of religious significance.
Lugu Lake is located in the North West Yunnan plateau in the centre of Ningliang Yi Autonomous County in the People's Republic of China. The middle of the lake forms the border between the Ninglang County of Yunnan Province and the Yanyuan County of Sichuan province. The formation of the lake is thought to have occurred in a geological fault belonging to the geological age of the Late Cenozoic. It is an alpine lake at an elevation of 2,685 metres and is the highest lake in the Yunnan Province. The lake is surrounded by mountains and has five islands, four peninsulas, fourteen bays and seventeen beaches.
Hong Kong is a city, and former British colony, in southeastern China. Vibrant and densely populated, it’s a major port and global financial center famed for its tower-studded skyline. It’s also known for its lively food scene – from Cantonese dim sum to extravagant high tea – and its shopping, with options spanning chaotic Temple Street Night Market to the city’s innumerable bespoke tailors.
Hangzhou, the capital of China’s Zhejiang province, is known as the southern terminus of the ancient Grand Canal waterway, originating in Beijing. Its West Lake, celebrated by poets and artists since the 9th century, encompasses islands (reachable by boat), temples, pavilions, gardens and arched bridges. On its south bank is 5-story Leifeng Pagoda, a modern reconstruction of a structure built in 975 C.E.
Everybody knows the feeling when after seeing a picture you definitely know that you have to visit that place. It happened to me with a picture of Furong Hibiscus town, a small ancient village proudly boasting on the top of a cliff with a huge waterfall flowing underneath – an amazing view. After seeing that picture, I immediately started to search for where it was.
